Name: Danielle Kristen Burr ( Danner ). Why did my mother pick this name for me? Why did she want to use almost the same letters in my first and last name forcing me all my life to become a master of the letters d,a,n and e. Why I ask you?

Today I found out that my cousin named there little girl Rebecca. Now, to most of you this means nothing. Is merely a name but to me this is a HUGE deal. This name happens to be my mothers name. Now, don’t get my wrong. I’ve heard the stories of “I named so and so after my mom and etc” and this is suppose to be an honor of some sorts. Well I say, hey that is what a middle name is for  Heck, two middle names if need be. So now as if family shin digs weren’t bad enough.. we have TWO people running around with the same name.  Now, I am not the smartest person. But I am having a hard time understand how, with so many LOVELY names in the world you really have to “settle” with a name that happens to already be in the family.

Soon after this discovery Nate tells me that in his family there are at least a few “Nathan’s” as well. Now I love my hubby in all, but please his name isn’t that great. Or at least great enough to name HOW many other people in his family the same name.

All I am saying is, it would be nice to go to a family shin dig and not have fifty people answering to the same name. I am just trying to avoid being one of those people who was always Ashley G or Amanda R in life. I have a lot of anger inside about this name issue, specially when the only things I will ever name is my car and dog.

3+ year’s ago I moved cross county to the foreign land of Utah. Until then I had never been pass Mississippi as far as going “west”. But boy was I in for a shock. Lets just say it was nothing like that game I played when I was a kid “Oregon Trail”. Time has moved on, and the mountains still amaze me every-time I see them. Even though I have been told I need to go to Alaska and really see mountains. *smiles*

Regardless, today I am grateful for Utah. I am grateful for SLC and everything this place has to offer. The longer I am here, the more places, things and life I seem to find. Truth be told, I have fallen head over heels for Utah. Sorry Pa, I’m never coming back.

It is with deep regret that I have to inform you of the great lost that has taken place in the burr family. I am sad to say that due to FTPB (failure to properly backup). We have lost the last few months worth of photos on this blog. So if you’re reading a long and it starts talking about some image… my most humble of apologies.

So I’m sitting at some hair salon waiting for Danielle and her new hair cut and thought I would blog about it. Her she comes. My beautiful db.

One thing I’m sure you all know is that Danielle and I both love a lot of the same things. We love great design, Art / Photography / Media and Technology / gadgets (when practical). So lately we’ve been saving and planning to start a new hobby together that we’ve both have wanted to do for years. What is it you may ask? That would depend on who you ask . Danielle would say photography. On the other hand i would say video and photography. Which is where this post comes into play. Lately I’ve been researching video and still cameras. There are a lot out there that will do both and do a great job at it. At your somewhat entry level you have the Canon T1i and the Nikon D5000 which can record HD (1080p / 720p) and also shoot at rather high resolutions. If you want to really get serious about it you can get a canon 5d mark II that can record 1080p content and shoot images at 21.1MP. Now that may sound great, but the really great thing about it is that it has a full frame sensor. Meaning it’s the same size as 35MM film. Also at the other end of the spectrum are the RED cameras which are just amazing (can shoot 2k film and also take still photos). Needless to say all this technology and photography in one device just makes me drool. Too many choices to choose yet. But one day i hope to be able to own one of these and put them to good use.

So last night we got to see the Celtic Women perform at the E-Center. It was fun for a lot of other reasons i would have never expected. The biggest surprise is that my brother in-law’s clone was banging on the drumbs. It took a while to get over that. (sorry bruce i could totally picture you doing that). Needless to say. Between that and the things they were doing with their arms and the other little drummer boy really getting into it. It turned out to be a great night. We were laughing so hard people looked over and thought we were crying and being emotional about the music.

All in all it was a fun event. even though it may have been more fun for the wrong reasons.

Anyone who loves movies knows how much hype there is behind the “summer blockbuster”. Anticipates the up coming best of the best, and can hardly wait to get there midnight tickets to every show they can.

My taste for movies may very well be much like my taste for music. Picky. I do not proclaim to be some music or movie snob, no no, not by any means. I do, however like to think I do have SOME amount of tack. Then again that can’t even be a true statement, since BBC Coupling has got to be one of the funniest shows on earth to me. It most defiantly is my pick me up when I need a tear retching laugh.

Maybe I need to rewind yet again. I have been MORE than disappointed with the last few movies that Nate and I have seen at the theater. Going to the movies is not as simple as just, well going. This thing had better be good. I mean not only am I forced to sit with a bunch of other people that are going to laugh at the things I’m not, but I can’t pause it, I can’t take breaks and even though some people do. I can’t wear my pj’s.

Ok.. Clearly this is going no where. In short. Nate and I went to see Wolverine last night. It was terrible. There was nothing good about the movie. Even Hugh Jackson, who should have been some sort of eye candy was a missing element. So as of now the movies have been a solid strike out for over a year now. Thank goodness I have Coupling and Lucy.

Your yard is full of those terribly hideous yellow dandelions! Yes, Nate and I are the proud owner of yard work, with no help from our dog. He has only added to the “beauty” of our yard by chewing the drip line in half, re-digging up the sprinkler heads and somehow placing fresh muddy doggy paws all over the side of my stucco house walls! He is a dog that you have to have a GREAT sense of humor with. Always keeps me on my toes.

So here’s to all you yard worker with the weeds, roundup and burnt farmers tans. I feel your pain. But to all you weeds, just know that I will have the last laugh!
